# Add a Subcategory

Create a new parent category & Assign subcategory to that parent.

1. To create a parent category, first click items on the blue sidebar.

2. Click "New Category"

3. Name the parent category and then save.

4. Click the blue pen to edit the food category, because that food category is going to be put into "all specials menu" for this example.

5. Click "Parent Category" and then "All Specials menu" and click "Save Changes"

6. Notice that the "Food" "Category" has "All Specials Menu" next to it, that indicates that's its parent category.
