# Configure Automatic Utensils

This guide walks you through the steps to adjust utensil-related category settings within your Acadia POS dashboard. Following these instructions will help you to setup "Automatic Utensils" that can add a utensils item to eligible orders so staff do not need to remember it manually.

1. Navigate to [manage.acadiapos.com](https://manage.acadiapos.com/) for **Retail** or [rfsm.acadiapos.com](https://rfsm.acadiapos.com) for **Restaurant** and click **Settings** in the sidebar menu.

2. Click **"General settings"**. Press `Ctrl + F` (Windows) or `⌘ + F` (Mac) and search for **Automatic Utensils**

3. Select **"Enabled"** for Automatic Utensils.

4. Click "Save"

5. In the **Utensils** section, enter the Utensils product ID.

6. Choose a **Utensils Mode.**

- Select the **"Add for all products"** option only when you want to add utensils whenever the supported ordering flows includes products.
- Select the **"Add only for categories with utensils attribute"** option only when the order includes a product from an enabled category.

Here for an example we choose the category based mode.

7. Click "Save"

8. To mark categories for utensils click **"Items"**

9. Click **"View Categories"**

10. Click the edit icon for the desired category. Here for example, we choose the category **"Pastas"**

11. Select **"Yes"** for Utensils.

12. Click "Save Changes"

13. Navigate to the **POS** app and click the **"Pastas"** category.

14. Click any item to add to cart.

15. Click **"PAY"**.

16. After clicking the Pay button, the Utensils option will pop up for the desired category. Click **YES** to add utensils to the order.

Tips:

- Use a non-inventory utensils product if you do not track utensil stock.
- Use category-based mode when only prepared food should receive utensils.
