# Create a Vendor Code Attribute

Depending on how you manage your inventory, there may be a need to have two different SKU numbers; one that is unique to your business and one that is unique to your vendor. The easiest way to manage your inventory is to have both numbers associated with the same product.

1. Navigate to [manage.acadiapos.com](https://manage.acadiapos.com) for **Retail** or [rfsm.acadiapos.com](https://rfsm.acadiapos.com) for **Restaurant**

2. Click "Items"

3. Click "Custom Attributes"

4. Click "New product Attribute"

5. - Under **ATTRIBUTE CODE**, you must enter **vendor_code**.

- Under **ATTRIBUTE NAME**, enter **Vendor Code** or **Vendor SKU**.
- Under **CUSTOM ATTRIBUTE TYPE**, choose **Product attribute/number** from the dropdown menu.
- Under **FRONTEND INPUT TYPE**, choose **Text** from the dropdown menu.
- Do not select anything under **SHOW ON QUICK UPDATE FORM**.

6. Click "Save Changes"
