# General Settings – Assign a Default Category in the Frontend

1. Navigate to [manage.acadiapos.com](https://manage.acadiapos.com/) for **Retail** or [rfsm.acadiapos.com](https://rfsm.acadiapos.com) for **Restaurant**

2. Get the ID of the category you've chosen to be the default. [Learn how](https://acadiapos.com/doc/locate-category-id/) **Example**: **14** - Fast Checkout

3. Now go to the sidebar and click **Settings**.

4. Click **General** **settings**

5. Use the **"Filter settings"** type **DEFAULT POS** or scroll down did you see it under **POS PRODUCT GRID** look for **Default POS Category ID**

6. Under **Default** **POS** **Category** **ID,** enter the **Category ID** number. **Example: 14**

7. Scroll down and click "Save"

8. Now when you open MobilePOS, you'll see it set as the default category.
