# Security – Create a New API Key

Although each account comes with a default API Key, we recommend creating a new one using your merchant MID number. Follow the steps below to create a new API key.

1. Navigate to [manage.acadiapos.com](https://manage.acadiapos.com) for **Retail** or [rfsm.acadiapos.com](https://rfsm.acadiapos.com) for **Restaurant**

2. Click "Settings"

3. Click "API Keys & Integrations"

4. Click "New API Key"

5. Delete the preloaded key in the field under **KEY** and enter the **MID number** in its place.

Under **PERMISSION**, select the permissions you want to be associated with the API Key.

- **Full Access**: Complete access to the backend of the POS.
- **Products Only**: Access limited to the products.
- **Customers Only**: Access limited to the customer profiles.
- **Orders Only**: Access limited to all of the sales.
- **Mobile App**: Access limited to the mobile app.

6. Click "Save Changes"
