# Setup Minimum Transaction Amount for Card Payments

This guide demonstrates the quick process to set up a minimum allowed amount on Credit Card payments. The POS will block card tenders below your chosen threshold and prompt staff to request cash or add more items to discourage tiny card payments that carry disproportionate fees. The rule applies to POS payments, invoice payments, and other card flows tied to the credit card method.

1. Navigate to [manage.acadiapos.com](https://manage.acadiapos.com/) for **Retail** or [rfsm.acadiapos.com](https://rfsm.acadiapos.com) for **Restaurant** and click **Settings** in the sidebar menu.

2. Click **"Payment Methods"** and then click the edit icon for **"Credit Cards"**.

3. In **Min Allowed Amount**, enter the smallest card total you wish to accept (for example, 5 for $5.00).

You can change or remove the minimum at any time; leaving the field blank restores the previous behavior.

4. Click "Save Changes"

Tips:

- Communicate the policy with signage near the register so customers are not surprised.
- Pair the setting with donation prompts or impulse items to give guests an easy way to reach the miminum.
