Oftentimes, merchants create products that they might need to hide at some point. Add the POS Status Attribute so that you can easily hide specific products from the front end of the POS without having to delete them altogether.
Note: This is feature is super useful for merchants who sell specific products at different times of the year. Ex: Valentine’s Day boxes that are the same every year or seafood items only available in the summer months.
1. Click “Items” on the sidebar
2. Click “Custom Attributes” in the upper right corner
3. Type “POS STATUS”
4. Under ATTRIBUTE CODE, enter pos_status.
Under ATTRIBUTE NAME enter POS Status or a name that will be easily recognizable to you.
5. Under CUSTOM ATTRIBUTE TYPE, select “String”.
6. Under FRONTEND INPUT TYPE, choose “Select”.
7. Click “+Add new”
8. Under VALUE, enter active. To the right, under LABEL, enter SHOW
9. Press +Add new one more time
10. Click “+Add new” right below to quickly add a new value/label. When clicking this it will add both boxes without a prompt. You can choose to use the other +Add New, and that will prompt a dialog box and it will enter it in that way.
11. Under VALUE, enter hidden. To the right, under LABEL, enter HIDE.
12. Under UI COLUMN SIZE IN POS, enter 3.
13. Select the “Enabled” option.
14. If you want this to show in the items section on the backend select the “Enabled” option. The attribute will be displayed as column in the items section.
15. Click “Save Changes”
16. You can see it now displayed in the list of attributes you have created.
17. To show you how to Hide the product, please follow these next two steps.
Click “Items”
18. Select the “hide” option to hide the product on the frontend/register
19. Select the “show” option to show the product on the frontend/register
20. Click “Save”
Tip: To undo this, simply go back to Items, you click the blue pen next to the item to EDIT/VIEW and then under POS STATUS, select SHOW.
